The option
It is a checkbox at the bottom of the filters box in the set editor, and it belongs to that set. With it on, the button Apply filters is always visible. With it off, the button is hidden when the script is running, because every choice filters at once, and it is there when the script is not, because it is the only way to send the form.
When it is better
- a slow host, where every click costs a second the shopper can feel;
- a long set where shoppers tend to choose five or six values in a row;
- a shop whose pages are heavy, so a swap per click is wasteful;
- a shopper on a phone, who wants to set everything and then look.
What stays the same
The counts. They are worked out for the page as it stands now, not for the choices not yet applied, so while a shopper is ticking, the numbers describe what is currently on screen. After Apply they are recalculated for the new state. The address, the chips, Clear all and the back button behave as in the immediate mode.
Removing a chip or pressing Clear all acts at once, in either mode, since those are links and not form fields.
Choosing
If shoppers use the shop to look for one thing quickly, leave filtering immediate. If they build up a combination, give them the button. You can change it for a set at any time and nothing else in the set needs to change.
